The beautiful seaside town of Bournemouth played host to the 2017 ASiT International Surgical Conference taking place from Friday 31st March until Sunday 2nd April.It was an excellent event with a fantastic line up of speakers along with 9 informative pre-conference courses - including the new ASiT Leadership in Surgery course. Swann-Morton were once again be exhibiting at the conference and were proud to continue their support of the coveted Silver Scalpel Award which will be presented at this years Gala Dinner at the historic Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre.The winner of the 2017 Silver Scalpel Award is Miss Rachel Hargest, Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon, University Hospital of Wales. This year, ASiT was supporting the Lifebox Foundation - the only charity with a mission to make surgery safer worldwide. Alongside Lifebox's Clean Cut programme to target surgical site infection in low-resource settings, they're leading a project to scope out essential instrument trays for bellwether procedures. As a leading voice for the future of global surgery, ASiT is excited to support the development of such a game-changing initiative for colleagues worldwide.
