The Winner of the 2022 Association of Surgeons in Training Silver Scalpel Award was Professor Peter Brennan a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospital NHS Trust. The Award was presented to Professor Peter Brennan alongside his peers at this year’s ASiT Surgical Conference 2022 awards gala dinner in Aberdeen and was overwhelmed with emotion on winning. All five Consultants who were nominated for the award were in attendance.

Professor Sir Bruce Keogh had received a message from the Health Secretary Sajid Javid praising the integratory of the Silver Scalpel Award for its commitment in recognising the selfless efforts of Consultant Surgical Trainers who go above and beyond to train the next generation of Consultant Surgeons in the U.K. This highlights just how big this award has become and is held in high esteem by the profession.
