2012 ODP Award Winner

On the 8th November, Sales and Marketing Director, Chris Taylor, had the pleasure of presenting the 2012 Swann-Morton ODP Award for academic achievement to Louise Warren.

Louise Warren, who completed the Diploma of Higher Education in Operating Department Practice in September 2012, has been honoured with the prestigious Swann- Morton award for academic excellence. The award, which is presented annually, is one of only six awards of this type given worldwide by the company, indeed this the only ODP award sponsored by Swann Morton.

Medica 2012

Swann-Morton will be launching their long awaited Post Mortem Disposable Scalpel Knife at the show and there will be two versions available with a choice of either the standard pointed PM40 blade or the rounded bull nose PM40B blade.

They will also be using the event to launch an extension to their Retractable Safety Scalpel range introducing the large size blades such as 20,21,22,23,24 and 25A in response to the EU Sharps Directive effective May 2013.

On Friday 30th November Charles Somerset from Medequip presented the Annual Swann Morton Surgical Prize at the Onderstepoort  Faculty of Veterinary Sciences  to this year’s recipient Renate Botha.

The Swann-Morton 2012 Award for Maxillo Facial and Oral Surgery was presented  on the 14th December to Johnny de Lange by Quenton Greene from Medequip.

80th Anniversary

On Friday 27^th July 2012, Swann-Morton celebrated their 80^th birthday and to commemorate the occasion the present Managing Director, Richard Whiteley, was joined by staff to plant a young Oak Tree within the gardens of the Penn Works site.

The Association of Surgeons in training welcomed over 700 delegates, guests and exhibitors to the 2012 ASiT Conference held at Cardiff City Hall in March.
